I Want To Learn How To Play Golf- But Where Do I Begin?
Maybe I should consult a golfing coach of some sort. But I was wondering where I should start! What kind of clubs to buy?? Is that even the right word?? LOL. I’ve been to the driving range ONCE, and I kid you not, I hit the ball a whole 5 feet. Any tips on stance?? Or anything else??
10 points best answer!!
Some steps to get you started:
1. Buy an iron set, for beginner buy a cavity back with graphite shaft and Ladies flex (you are a female right).
2. Go to a driving range and sign up for an introductory lesson.
3. If you don’t want to spend money on lessons, find a friend who can play golf and check your swing.
4. Open Youtube, and search for Golf Swing, to see other people swing.
5. Just practice for straight 3 months, see if you have any improvements.
6. Don’t rush yourself to a golf course, you will lose a dozen ball or more if your swing is not consistent enough.

Well my recommendation is to first go to the driving range 2 or 3 times then second find a friend who is ok and go out with them and play a few times till you can make decent contact with the ball. Have them help you to start. Then after you can make somewhat of contact with the ball inquire at your local course or driving range about lessons and they likely have a teaching pro at one or the other if not both places. From there just begin to take lessons and play when you can and you will get better. I do warn golf is much tougher than most people think it is so patience will be very key in this process. I have been playing since I was 5 and am now 30 and i’ve helped a lot of my friends start the game and now they enjoy it very much so be patient and follow my plan and you will be on the right path.As far as your stance go’s you want your feet to be about shoulder width apart, knees slightly bent. Also no need to swing as hard as you can a common beginner error. Hope that helps.

Many courses and/or driving ranges offer lessons geared towards beginners.
In addition, many local community/junior colleges and even some municipalities (through their parks & rec department) offer lessons that are geared toward beginners.
For women, EWGA is a great business-geared organisation that teaches golf with a focus toward using golf to foster and improve your business relationships.
Good luck!

I started playing just over a year ago and took a series of 4 lessons from a golf pro. If you can get a friend to go with you it will be cheaper. Take one lesson per week and work on the things from the previous lesson before going to the next one. This will also help you decide if you really like the game. Finish the lessons before you buy clubs, the pro can provide you with some for the lessons. The pro should also be able to recommend what type of clubs you should get.
Don’t feel bad about the 5′, I still do that sometimes after playing for a year.

Do you know anyone who golfs? That would be a good first step to work with someone you know to help you with the basics so you can learn how to hit the ball properly. Watch a little golf on TV or google golf tips or video golf tips to see what you can find for free on there, just little things to get you on the right track. To me the best way to learn anything is repetition, getting out and doing it over and over. Don’t get discouraged though, it will take some time and effort. I wish I knew some women who wanted to golf, because I would love to teach them how to play. As far as clubs, you should look for some used clubs or a cheap starter set until you decide if you like the game enough. It is a great game once you learn, so don’t give up.

An Update to this question:
To hit the ball more than 5 feet. Hehehe. Go back to the driving range.
When you address the ball and put the club behind the ball.
Draw this imaginary square around your head. Take the club
back and keep your head inside that imaginery square, keep your head inside that square until you hit the ball. Then you can release on thru to the target. That is a tasty david leadbetter technique. Watch the pros on tv. You’ll see their stance to the ball and how they keep their head inside that square.
You’ll make better contact that way. It takes an as.sload of practice. Try to keep it simple.
They make these little yellow foam golf balls, I’ll actually beat them inside the garage off a mat. You can hit them and feel the club on that foam ball, excellent to practice with at home.
And one time my friend took his woman to the driving range and she went there with HIGH HEELs on trying to look spicey. I don’t recommend getting all spiced up and trying to hit golf balls in high heels. Hehehehe.

In my opinion, you need practice the grip at frist. there are ten steps:
The Golf Grasp
IMPORTANT: Read this before you start
The way you place your hands on the golf club will have a direct relationship to the flight of your ball. If your grip is too weak, the clubface angle at impact will be off line, which will cause the ball to curve. The bottom edge of the clubface needs to be straight to the target line in order for the ball to fly straight toward the target. A good golf grip would be considered neutral, that is, neither weak nor strong. A neutral grip will allow your hands to react properly to an aggressive swing.
1.First let us clarify which hand is the top hand and which hand is the bottom hand so that we can relate to both right-handed and left-handed golfers. For a right-handed golfer, the left hand is the top hand, and the right hand is the bottom hand. For a left-handed golfer, the right hand is the top hand, and the left hand is the bottom hand.
2.Start by standing and holding the club in your bottom hand (right hand), where the grip meets the shaft. The shaft should be at an angle where the club head is at your forehead, toward the sky, and the grip is at your waist. The club should be completely vertical.
3. Touch the club in the fingers of your top hand (left hand)…
